Forgiveness and the Christian Ethic.

There has been a gross misunderstanding, the world over, about the nature of forgiveness in Christianity.

Forgiveness can only happen after full, complete, and unconditional repentance. Not just the words 'I am sorry'.

In fact if you pretend to repent, but do not, then this is a worse sin than committing any sin in the first instance. Not only are you a bearer of false witness, but you have undermined the very essence of forgiveness. How can you ever expect to be forgiven again, if you have lied when you have said that you have repented? How can any man on earth believe you? Better to kill yourself than to pretend remorse.

For if your hand offend ye, then cut it off. But if all of you is offence, then better cut yourself out of life completely.

Too often, people offer forgiveness, thinking that this is Christian, when they KNOW the person is not really being authentic. Evil thus lives like a parasite on such Christians, who often turn away from Christianity, as they feel it cannot work for them thus.

And truly, it cannot!

But have you forgiven out of genuine understanding, or have you forgiven out of weariness and complacency and spiritual laziness? Nearly all Christians fall into this trap, and so lose their true Christian nature, which is love of Truth.

It has been said turn the other cheek, even 70 times 7 times. But! I say, if turning the other cheek results in you being taken for a fool, when you have offered peace and love. Then vengeance shall be taken. Do you think God WANTS you to suffer?

Forgiving 70 times 7 times, makes sense when you are dealing with a child. But not with an adult, at least not with an adult that refuses to learn from the same repeated mistakes. Perhaps he is an idiot and should be locked away? Then you should forgive. And one should never close your heart forever, especially in the spirit of vengeance. For vengeance is a sweet feeling, not a bitter one. Vengeance is a soft idea, not a hard one.

But it is swift, and without mercy, for mercy has already burnt its wings when vengeance takes place. Forgiveness already lies on the floor, dead, when the Lord's wrath is on you.

Vengeance is the purest love, for it is the passion which would clean the world of sin, even at the risk of sinning oneself. This is the meaning of true sacrifice.

Allah Akbar!
